New Bikes

Filed under: Projects — Ruzter @ 11:37 pm

I am a sucker for some cheap bikes to cut up into new creations, today was no exception:

$2 and 28 inch wheels

$5, just begging to be cut up

Free, (though I gave him $10 as a token) this is the pièce de résistance. SOOOOOOO many possibilities and the boys love riding it. It did come with a yellow seat, temporarily removed in this pic so it is easier for the boys to ride. Kirsten is so tolerant.

SAy, if you ever come across something like this http://lh5.ggpht.com/_lAlZnzSET1I/SJewj6pXonE/AAAAAAAAA0I/6-p4mPm33GY/s144-c/RaleighDL1ForSale02.jpg with 28″ wheels, keep me in mind. You know I’ll come and get it!

    • I am not sure I know how this is different than mine… I could spray paint it black!

      • It is very close but the one I sent the link to is a loop frame. Easier to climb onto and off of in a skirt. Also has an in-hub gearing system (which would have been very hard to see in the picture)

    • Why do you need to park in the garage? YOu have that huge driveway and loads of space on the street out front! 😉

  4. I think you should leave red-bike just as is is. It would make a good around-towner, or I am sure you could sell it for ~50$ in town.

    • I rode the red bike last night, cruises nicely, as long as it is flat! Very different ride, the big wheels seem to have more gyro effect. Other than tires, it is actually in pretty good shape. Of course this makes the cheap bike garage saling more complicated, because now I have to find cheap bikes that are not worth saving!!!!
