Doorbell Cover

Filed under: Neat Stuff — Ruzter @ 2:27 am

In amongst single parenting (K was in Calgary) with sick kids, and trying to wrap up things with the house fixing (the house is listed already!) I managed to wipe out this cover for the doorbell in the hallway. Several things that were missing with the house when we bought it (like baseboards in the kids rooms) have been installed by Kirsten and I in the past week!

Aprox 8x5x2 inches, oak. Assembled it then ran the edges through my table saw to get the joints perfectly flush. Worked quite well.

Random acts of eBay

Filed under: Neat Stuff — Ruzter @ 1:02 am

I also recently discovered that you can easily buy something on eBay and have it shipped to someone else.

An amazing thought occurred to me today. I have bought a fair number of things from China and Hong Kong with free shipping, usually things where quality is not an issue for what I need it for. It is fun. I also like making people laugh and if they can feel like someone thought of them, even better. I also recently discovered that you can easily buy something on eBay and have it shipped to someone else.

I did a search on eBay today for “gift” and there was 10 or so pages of  things like these for less than $2.00 including shipping and handling:

So with contact list of mailing addresses and an eBay account, the possibilities are endless!

Proposed Trike Mods

Filed under: Neat Stuff — Ruzter @ 3:56 am

A quick and dirty mock up of a potential trike mod. Use your imagination as to a seat just above the chain guard, about even with the front of the rear wheels. The seat would have a back to push against like a recumbent.

More cabinet progress

Filed under: Neat Stuff — Ruzter @ 12:52 am

I had to make this custom filler piece to fit in a corner. I was happy with how it turned out.

The edges look a bit beat up, but they don’t show. I was building this piece from scraps left over. Notice the 1 piece is rabbited into the other. My first time trying it, it worked well!

A pic of the first upper cabinet with the bottom valences installed.

New (to us) Boat

Filed under: Neat Stuff — Ruzter @ 12:32 am

Yesterday we bought a fishing boat.

It is a 12 foot Harbourcraft with a Johnson 9.9 hp outboard. The boat is in really nice shape and the motor runs nice. I realize this is the wrong time of the year to buy a boat but the price was certainly right. Anyone that wants to go fishing (or just boating) next summer is officially invited!

Now, what shall we name it? Put your suggestions in the comments!
